Will Luton is set to join Rovio's new London studioas an Executive Producer.

Luton, formerly of Vancouver studio A Thinking Ape, has been leading product management on Angry Birds 2 at Rovio Stockholm since joining the company in November 2016.

But from May he'll be joining Head of Studio Mark Sorrell in London, working on what he refers to as "the next generation of mobile MMOs".

New city, new project

"As Executive Producer, I'll be the lead for the studio's first product," Luton tells

"I'm really excited to join Head of Studio Mark Sorrell to build exciting new worlds that we hope will be filled with millions of players daily.

"We have a lot of exciting challenges ahead, but the depth and quality of talent in the UK make it a brilliant place to be tackling these. Although we plan a slow growth, we will continue to open up more positions over the coming months.”

Rovio's London studio was announced during Pocket Gamer Connects London 2017. The developer had identified the UK as an ideal place to expand its operations due to the breadth of talent across the UK.

The new studio will be working on massively multiplayer games, though, at least initially, they won't be leveraging the Angry Birds IP.
