No doubt eager to pull in the 85 million plus consumers with an iPhone or iPod touch in their pockets, Activision Blizzard has announced it is to launch a new remote auction house that will enable players to browse, buy or sell World of Warcraft goods from either their browser or on iPhone.

Coming with a subscription charge of $2.99 a month, the new service will be available as an update to Blizzard's existing World of Warcraft Armory app.

Beta late than never

The auction house is currently in the beta testing stage, with users able to access a number of viewing options without charge, but the real meat of play only being accessible via the subscription charge.

"We are considering other services that could help keep players connected to different aspects of World of Warcraft through the web or their mobile devices," the developer said on the game's official website.

"As with the Auction House service, these services would be designed to complement the gameplay of World of Warcraft, and would be implemented in a way that doesn't detract from the gameplay for other players who do not to use the service."
