Though indiePub has existed as a community portal for independent games development for some time, parent company Zoo Entertainment has announced it has extended the division's remit to publish titles on smartphones.

Established as indiePub Mobile, the firm will in its own words - cultivate titles for release on both iOS and Android throughout 2011.

The first games set for release include Fractal, Blocks: The Devilish Delivery Game, Paper Venture, Totem Destroyer Deluxe and Cargo Delivery.

Mobile move

"With a rise in both independent video game development and the mobile industry, we conceptualised a dedicated platform for mobile games and talented developers, and are now seeing that platform come to life," said Zoo CEO Mark Seremet.

"By the end of 2011, Zoo anticipates having an impressive line-up of mobile content, including 12 games currently in development, which will be offered across handsets and tablets as a direct result of our partnerships with talented independent developers."

Seremet claims the decision was made following the success of indiePub's mobile games competition, which ran last December.

Former EA Mobile development director Rob Cassidy is set to serve as the publisher's director, helping assist indiePub in both acquiring new titles and marketing them.

Money matters

The news comes as Zoo Entertainment, which has released a number of casual titles on consoles over the course of the last three years, announced it expects 2010 revenues to hit somewhere between $67 million and $69 million a record for the firm.

"We believe this has set the stage for 2011 to be a transformative year for Zoo Entertainment. as we expand our game publication capabilities to more digital and console platforms than ever before," Seremet added.

Zoo also expects profits to come in between $1.84 and $2.84 million, up from a $17.3 million loss the previous year.
