Hong Kong developer NetDragon boosts revenues by 120% following strong mobile growth in 2016

Hong Kong-based developer NetDragon has released its financials for Q4 FY16 and its full year financials for the year ending December 31st 2016.

The company posted overall revenues of $359.6 million for the year, an impressive increase of 119.5% year-on-year. Gross profit for the year was up 66% to $204.7 million.

Breaking this down, game revenues were $155.8 million, an increase of 22.8% year-on-year. Profits were up 43.2% to $47.9 million.

Doubling up

While it didn't break out specific numbers, NetDragon did state that its mobile revenues doubled year-on-year. This was largely thanks to titles such as Heroes Evolved and Eudemons Online.

Heroes Evolved saw its mobile adaptation released in December 2016 and has already proven to be a strong performer for the studio. It plans to release two more titles based on the game in the next year.

Looking ahead, NetDragon plans to launch even more mobile titles as it continues to grow that arm of its business. It will also invest in VR and AR as it looks to explore that market further.
