LINE sees revenues grow to $705.8 million but MAUs are still consistently falling

LINE has released its financials for its Q2 FY17 for the six months ending June 30th 2017.

It posted overall revenues of $705.8 million for the period, up 16.9% year-on-year. Profits also rose significantly by 268.1% year-on-year to $94.6 million.

Looking at its Content segment, which includes its LINE Game service, revenues fell to $90.6 million for the period, a decrease of 11.5% year-on-year. This also represents a decrease of 3.5% quarter-on-quarter.

Falling numbers

Its KPIs are also falling in this segment. MAUs are down to 203 million for the period, and have been steadily declining since Q1 FY16 when they were at around 218 million.

Looking ahead, LINE expects to launch at least three major games in the second half of 2017. These include a battle RPG using a popular anime license, a collaboration with Marvelous Inc, and a sports game for Thailand and Taiwan.

LINE established LINE Game following the purchase of a majority stake in mobile game developer NextFloor in July 2017. It is expected to bolster the company's midcore gaming content.
