Swedish games group Aonic has hired former Larian UK studio head Arthur Mostovoy as its first-ever head of games.

Mostovoy's remit covers the company’s entire portfolio across all platforms. He will work with its studios across Europe and North America, which includes subsidiaries like OtherSide Entertainment and Red Games Co. He will also be responsible for maximising collaboration between various teams.

Current Aonic games in development include Thick as Thieves, Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults and mobile title Transformers: Tactical Arena.

"Golden age of indies"

Mostovoy’s industry experience spans multiple platforms, with his latest role having been studio head at Larian UK. He grew the Guildford-based studio to more than 80 people over his near six-year tenure and was most recently involved in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Prior to this, Mostovoy spent three years at mobile publisher Azur Games as producer and later general manager, where he was involved in strategic partnerships, recruitment, design and more.

He also worked on War Robots at Pixonic - a title that has earned over $1 billion in just over 10 years.

"After nearly six amazing years at Larian, I can’t wait to dive into this new role at Aonic," he said.

"There’s so much to be excited about happening throughout our teams, across platforms, audiences and genres. We are entering a golden age of indies and small teams, resulting in some incredibly creative games.

"The market share for small and indie teams is growing year on year, and this will continue. My role at Aonic is to support these teams in creating and delivering creative titles that can make a major impact."

Aonic co-founder and chief product officer Olliver Heins commented: "Aonic is building something truly exciting and welcoming a talent like Arthur is a significant step in what we are working towards. His track record speaks for itself and his experience will be invaluable in helping us achieve our ambitions."

Aonic received €152 million ($160m) in investment in late 2024 to further M&A activity and ongoing development.
