King’s Candy Crush Solitaire has opened for pre-registration ahead of its worldwide launch on February 6th, 2025.

Marking the Candy Crush series’ first global launch to depart from its match-3 roots, the title takes inspiration from Robert Hogue’s TriPeaks solitaire card game, where the goal is to play each card from three pyramids before turning over the whole deck.

While this marks a notable shift in genre for Candy Crush, the upcoming game maintains the broader series’ branding with the backs of cards covered in sweets, the Jack, Queen and King featuring Candy Crush characters, and boosters like the Jelly Fish and Lollipop Hammer making a return.

Players can also expect to "candify" postcards from Hawaii, Paris, Japan and elsewhere by completing levels.

Soft launch success

After a beta test in Canada back in 2023, Candy Crush Solitaire first soft-launched in the country in late February 2024. That soft launch has since expanded to other territories such as Germany, Mexico and the Netherlands.

AppMagic estimates suggest the game has generated more than $170,000 gross to date.

A surge in spending was observed in October 2024, followed by a larger incline in December. The spike in player spending coincided with a rise in downloads

Worldwide, eager players can now pre-register for the full release to earn in-game rewards like a unique card back, two fish cards, three colour bomb cards, 5,000 coins and four undos.

King has previously experimented with other genres for its Candy Crush IP. It soft-launched Blast and 3D, but has since cancelled those titles.

In a statement at the time, a King spokesperson said "testing new ideas is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing our gameplay experience, and we’re always learning to ensure we design games that best serve our players".

Candy Crush Solitaire marks the first global launch in the series since Candy Crush Friends Saga. The company's last game to release worldwide was Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, which has since been shut down.
