UAE-based startup Classy Games Studios has secured investment from Merak Capital.
The startup said it will use the funds to accelerate the development of its current and upcoming games, expand its core team and deepen its creative capabilities.
Classy Games was founded during the pandemic by CEO Jamie McClenaghan and operates as a remote-first team of seven based in the Middle East.
The team is currently working on SillySuspects, a first-person detective RPG that blends mystery, comedy, and chaos whilst tasking players to solve crimes.
Merak Capital and Exel by Merak in Saudi Arabia spearheaded the investment.
Growing sustainably
Beyond SillySuspects, Classy Games said it is exploring a new project inspired by the rich history and culture of the MENA region.
“The investment will be focused on accelerating development of our current and upcoming titles by expanding our core team and deepening our creative capabilities," Classy Games CEO and founder Jamie McClenaghan told PocketGamer.biz.
“We’ll be bringing on new talent to help us build richer and more engaging experiences.
“While we’re not planning to open a new office just yet, we’re committed to growing sustainably and continuing to build a studio culture that’s agile, imaginative, and based in Saudi Arabia.”
