AR firm courts creators
Developers can now sign up for Magic Leap's augmented reality SDK

Magic Leap, the Florida-based Google-backed augmented reality firm, has taken to the stage at the EmTech Digital conference to announce plans for encouraging and supporting thirdparty development on its platform.

It revealed that game developers, filmmakers, and all manner of other creators are now able to sign up for a Magic Leap SDK, which will be compatible with Unity and Unreal engines.

Leaping forward

As for its release, a vague "soon" tweeted from the Magic Leap Twitter account is all we have thus far.

The firm also revealed that a portion of the $542 million funding it received last October - from Google and other investors - has gone towards a huge manufacturing facility.

“We’re out of the R&D phase and into the transition to real product introduction,” said Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz.
