Gamescom LATAM organisers have responded to an open letter signed by over 250 Brazilian developers criticising the event for alleged mismanagement and poor support.

The organisers of Gamescom LATAM acknowledged receiving the developers' letter but cautioned that some public information might be misleading.

They pointed to the Brazil Panorama section as a key example of their support, showcasing 129 games in 2025 - 59 from Brazilian developers and 70 from international studios, citing an effort not commonly seen at other major events.

“Specifically at Brazil Panorama, there are optional paid services available for those who wish to enhance their participation," said the organisers.

“This year, however, clearer guidelines were implemented regarding the occupation of demo stations, in order to avoid them being empty as seen in the last edition of the event, aiming to optimise the visitor experience.

“Again, it is important to emphasise that all such guidelines are communicated in advance, enabling participants to make informed decisions aligned with their resources and availability."

Funding clarification

The organisers said that Gamescom LATAM 2025 generated over R$20 million ($3.5m) in economic impact for São Paulo and significant business for participating companies, especially benefiting independent developers.

They also clarified that public funding from the City of São Paulo was R$1m ($176,000) and not R$22m ($3.8m) as the open letter previously mentioned.

“The figure of R$22m mentioned in the correspondence refers to the total projected production budget for Gamescom LATAM 2025 as of January this year," the organisers clarified.

“This amount encompasses expenses related to production, content curation, marketing, venue rental, staffing, accreditation, and other operational activities."

The Gamescom LATAM team said it welcomes community feedback and is open to dialogue on the development of the games industry in Brazil and Latin America
