Hot Five: Pokémon TCG Pocket surpasses $1bn, Delta Force Mobile hits $100m, and Fortnite's comeback

1) Pokémon TCG Pocket surpasses $1bn in just over 200 days
Pokémon TCG Pocket has surpassed $1 billion in gross player spending in under seven months, according to AppMagic estimates.
The hit title reached the major milestone on May 22nd, 2025, 204 days after its global launch last October. On a gross player spending basis, this means TCG Pocket outpaced Pokémon Go’s 282 days to the unicorn club.
2) Wooga struck by around 50 layoffs as Claire’s Chronicles: Solitaire cancelled
Around 50 Wooga staff have lost their jobs, PocketGamer.biz understands, with roles impacted including artists, analysts, designers and producers.
The developer has also cancelled mobile game Claire’s Chronicles: Solitaire, which had been in soft launch since October 2024.
3) Destiny: Rising opens pre-registrations on App Store
Bungie and NetEase Games’ Destiny: Rising has opened up global pe-registrations on the App Store, with pre-registrations on Google Play to be made available at a later date.
The top-end target is 10 million pre-registrations which, if achieved, will award early players with five tiers of rewards. A beta test is also expected on Google Play later this month.
4) Delta Force surpasses $100m on mobile
Team Jade’s Delta Force has surpassed $100m in gross player spending on mobile according to AppMagic data.
China has contributed 94% of those earnings over the game’s lifetime thus far, having been spending since September 2024, ahead of the global rollout on April 21st, 2025.
5) Fortnite ranks number one for US App Store downloads since return
Sensor Tower rankings have placed Epic Games’ Fortnite as the most downloaded mobile app on the App Store in the US every day since its return.
The battle royale made its App Store comeback after nearly five years, following pressure from US courts regarding anti-steering practices.
