One of the biggest challenges facing the games industry right now is the number of talented professionals seeking their next role. The layoffs in the last couple of years have created a pool of job seekers. Fortunately, top companies are recruiting – you just have to find them.

As part of our mission to support the global games ecosystem, Pocket Gamer Connects has partnered with Games Factory Talents to create a dedicated Careers Zone at our events.

Careers Zone typically features a jobs board, and tables where you can meet recruiters like Sandsoft, as well as receive advice from Games Factory Talents.

Most recently seen at PGC Barcelona (where it proved a major success), the Careers Zone was sponsored by Sandsoft and featured on-site networking, a dedicated jobs board, and recruitment support from the Games Factory Talents website, where both recruiters and job seekers can upload their profiles and plan meetings.

Careers Zone success stories

Aleksandra Korbolewska, talent acquisition lead at Sandsoft, said of the event: “As the Careers Zone sponsor at Pocket Gamer Connects in our home city of Barcelona, Sandsoft was proud to support an initiative that connects talent with the career opportunities in the games industry. The event provided us with a valuable opportunity to meet a wide range of skilled professionals, and we conducted numerous on-site meetings with promising candidates.

“We also appreciated the effectiveness of Games Factory Talents’ matchmaking platform, which enabled us to identify and connect with candidates whose skills aligned with our open roles both in person and online. Meeting talent face-to-face offers a significantly different and more engaging experience than virtual interactions.

“For any company looking to scale and hire talent in the gaming industry, we highly recommend participating in the Careers Zone at Pocket Gamer Connects events.”

Our partner in this, Games Factory Talents, is a recruitment platform specialising in the games and creative industries, with a commitment to matching the right people with the right roles across the globe.

It’s run by CEO Oleg Paliy, who told us: “Hosting the Careers Zone at Pocket Gamer Connects Barcelona was a fantastic opportunity to connect talent with career opportunities once again. We enhanced our AI matchmaking tool to better facilitate both online and on-site meetings, and introduced a messaging feature that enabled direct conversations between job seekers and recruiters.

“It’s great to see Pocket Gamer Connects continuing to support job seekers, especially during such challenging times for the games industry.”

Paliy and Korbolewska joined a panel on stage with representatives from FunPlus and Bandai Namco Mobile, called "Hire. Inspire. Retain: Studio Strategies That Work" and you can watch that in the video above.

More chances to recruit or find work

A huge thank you to Sandsoft and Games Factory Talents for powering the Careers Zone in Barcelona – and to every studio that advertised roles and every attendee who signed up to explore new opportunities. If you made a career connection at the event, we’d love to hear your story.

And so with that in mind, and building on the success of Barcelona, the Careers Zone will return at Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki! It will be the heart of Finnish Games Week (October 6th to 10th), which also includes IGDA Finland’s Leadership Day, AI Gamechangers Summit, the Global Connects Party and W Love Games.

Careers Zone at PGC Helsinki will once again provide a valuable platform for job seekers and recruiters alike, both in person and via the virtual matchmaking platform. Whether you're hiring or job hunting, it's a prime opportunity to grow your team or take the next step in your games industry journey.
