South Korean games developer and publisher NCSoft has invested $3.5 million in Swedish developer Moon Rover Games

Founded in 2022 by DICE veterans, the Swedish studio is currently working on a co-op FPS entitled Project Aldous and will use the funds throughout the game's development stage.

NCSoft is also considering further investments and securing publishing rights for the game. Moon Rover staff have previously worked on top-grossing FPS games such as Battlefield, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s The Division.

A new milestone

“This investment represents a milestone in the history of Moon Rover Games,” said CEO Julien Wera.

“It will enable us to combine the experience and ambitions of our team with the vast knowledge of NCSoft in the development and operations of online games, to bring new gameplay experiences to players around the world.”

NCSoft's co-CEO Byungmoo Park added: “In our search to forge new business opportunities, we are actively exploring studios with specialized genre expertise and strong development capabilities. Moon Rover Games stands out with its profound experience in the FPS genre and innovative approaches.”

“Project Aldous will enhance NCSoft’s game portfolio both in terms of genre diversity and regional reach. We’re confident that partnering with Moon Rover Games will contribute to our global expansion and strategy to develop robust game development clusters.”
