While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.

So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they've made the cut.

Kingdom Rush Battles

yt

Ironhide Game Studio has raced its way to yet another Kingdom Rush launch, this time with a PvP entry in the tower defence franchise.

Kingdom Rush Battles is currently available in Canada, Uruguay, Indonesia and the Philippines, and it delivers real-time duels where the strongest defence remains the name of the game. 18 towers from across the series also make an appearance.

Wargroove 2: Pocket Edition

yt

Turn-based tactics take to mobile with Wargroove 2: Pocket Edition, bringing a 20-hour campaign, three connected stories, and multiple modes along for the ride.

The game serves as a sequel to Chucklefish’s 2019 title Wargroove and has been optimised for mobile with touchscreen controls. Its gameplay ranges from grid-based battles, to the roguelike Conquest mode, to local and online multiplayer showdowns.

Criss Cross Castle

yt

Two years on from its founding, Simply Sweet Games has launched its first game Criss Cross Castle with a cosy adventure to restore magic to the realm.

After the Illiterati take away written language, it’s up to the player to recover stories and uncover lost lore, all in a puzzle game setting.

Samkok: New Force

4399’s Samkok: New Force is a chibi-style RPG all about strengthening heroes and strategically deploying them on the battlefield.

Bringing in idle card mechanics and casual levelling, busy players can auto-deploy for easy rewards - while the heavily invested can face off in PvP seasons and compete for the highest rankings.

Settris

yt

Puzzle game Settris tasks flexibly minded Android users with flipping and rotating Tetris-like blocks.

With no time limit in Stage Mode, completing levels can be taken at any preferred pace, as the challenge rather concentrates on filling every space within a range of larger shapes. But Zoo Corporation has also launched Settris with a Time Attack Mode for those who appreciate higher stakes.

Haikyu! Fly High

yt

Sports title Haikyu! Fly High is the latest team-based RPG on Google Play and the App Store, out globally with English and Japanese voiceover options.

The Haikyu! anime adaptation was developed by Prophet Games, published by Garena and had its licence secured by KLab. It achieved five million pre-registrations prior to the global rollout.

Chicky Drop

yt

Fast-paced puzzles await in gameaki’s fourth game, Chicky Drop. The game has just dropped on the Play Store, giving Android owners a virtual chicken to save and keep safe from a terrible fate.

The chicken’s main danger is falling down holes, so players can fill them with correctly shaped pieces or use balloons to help this feathery friend cross before it’s too late.
