Big Indie Pitch winner Foodo Kitchen featured by Apple

Foodo Kitchen, winner of the Krakow Big Indie Pitch sponsored by Immersion, has underlined its quality with a featured spot on the UK iPad App Store.

The charming children's cooking game, which impressed our panel of distinguished judges, has found its way into Apple's Best New Apps section; a ringing endorsement of a unanimous indie victor.

Visible to all

While some people have described an App Store feature as a moment when a game figuratively takes centre stage, in the case of Foodo Kitchen it has almost literally done so.

Appearing in Apple's prized Editor's Choice carousel at the top of the page has earned developer Tutu Lab a near invaluable early boost to their marketing efforts.

Although the precise value of an App Store feature is still debated, many consider it to be an essential precondition for a paid game success.

A recent report by app analytics firm Distimo highlighted the value of featuring within certain categories, while indie hero Mike Bithell lent his support to the importance of a feature with his delighted tweet following a feature for his newly released iPad game, Thomas was Alone, in the U.S.

Get noticed

Want to get your game noticed in the way that Foodo Kitchen has?

While we can't say for certain that Apple reads the pages of hallowed publications like ours, the Big Indie Pitch remains an excellent way to get your game in the hands of passionate journalists who could help get your game noticed by the biggest players in the industry.

Best of all, we've got three such events coming up in June. Signups are already open for the Big Indie Pitch at E3 on the 10th June and at the Very Big Indie Pitch in Helsinki at Pocket Gamer Connects on the 16 June, so make sure you get on board for this potentially life changing opportunity.

Congratulations again to Foodo Kitchen on their success and we hope that more of you lovely developer types will head out to our pitches in the future so we can help unearth the next big thing.

Thanks to event sponsors Immersion for helping to make the Big Indie Pitch a success
