Skillz brings cross-game, cross-platform chat system to 12 million users on its service

Mobile eSports firm Skillz has launched its own cross-platform chat system as part of its Skillz Tournament Management system.

The new system allows the 12 million players using Skillz' platform to chat with friends in private messages and group chats through text messaging. This chat works across any game using the platform.

Developers have already found engagement to increase after integrating the chat platform. Skillz claims that 10% more players are entering tournaments, and revenue per player has increased 25%.

Better connected

"eSports competitions connect players and fans around the world in an intrinsically social experience," said Andrew Paradise, CEO and founder of Skillz.

"By adding in a sophisticated chat system, Skillz has become the multiplayer social fabric to connect the world’s 2.6 billion mobile gamers."

Skillz was named the fastest growing company in the US in August 2017 after it increased revenues by 50,000% over three years. It was the first ever eSports company to top Inc. Magazine's annual Inc. 5000 list.
