25 per cent cut and fourth free content release help propel Hollow Knight to No.1

Hollow Knight topped Nintendo Switch eShop charts in Europe last month

Team Cherry's Hollow Knight was the best-selling game on the Nintendo European eShop in August.

The Nintendo Switch News channel has revealed the 15 best-selling eShop games for the last month, based on the number of downloads earned in European regions.

Hollow Knight topped the chart for August, likely thanks to a couple of factors. A recent sale cut the game’s price by 34 per cent. A fourth free content pack, Godmaster, was also released around the same period.

Charted territory

Other indie action titles saw success in the European chart this month, with Dead Cells 2 following Hollow Knight in second spot. Developer Sebastien Benard providing a post-mortem at this year’s Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki (September 11th to 12th).

Team Cherry’s side-scrolling hack n’ slash Hollow Knight was first released in February 2017. But a release on Switch this summer gave Hollow Knight a second-win, making up a fifth of the game’s 1.25 million total sales.
