Nexon posts record revenues of $657 million in Q1 FY17

Nexon has released its financials for its Q1 FY17 for the three months ending March 31st 2017.

It posted record-high revenues of $657.1 million for the quarter, up 30% year-on-year. Net income for its Q1 came in at $174.9 million, up substantially from $98.3 million in its Q4 FY16.

Breaking this down further, mobile revenues came to $102.6 million, down 6% year-on-year. It generated $37.3 million in Japan alone from its mobile games, up 19% year-on-year.

It's still a hit

The main cause of its record sales was PC game Dungeon&Fighter's performance in China. The game saw an enormous boost in sales during a Lunar New Year event run in the game.

On the mobile side, revenues largely grew in Japan, up 29% quarter-on-quarter and 19% year-on-year. Nexon pointed to the continued success of Heroes of Incredible Tales as the cause of this growth.

Dynasty Warriors Unleashed was intended to be a key revenue driver in Q1 for Nexon, but missed its chance by launching on March 30th 2017. It has so far surpassed five million downloads since it was first released.
