Unity has announced it plans to roll out deployment tools that will allow developers to create games for the Linux-based Tizen operating System.

Speaking on the decision to support Tizen, Unity Technologies' CEO David Helgason noted that both Unity and Tizen have a lot in common in that they "both aim to make the creation and the deployment of games and other apps as easy as possible for developers."

"Tizen's broad OEM support and big market potential will provide another excellent avenue for our amazing community of mobile developers to find success," he added.

All in a Tizen

Unity's announcement is another boost for Intel and Samsung's Tizen OS which received announced support from the Dundee-based YoYo Games and its GameMaker: Studio earlier in May.

This move is another initiative from the San Francisco-based Unity to make publishing on a variety of platforms simple and painless.

On Tuesday, Unity announced that it would be dropping the license fee from its basic engine for iOS and Android.
