London developer Tripledot is set to buy AppLovin’s games division in a $900 million deal, according to a report.

Four people with “knowledge of the matter” told Business Insider the deal isn’t currently finalised and plans may change. AppLovin previously said a term sheet had been signed, with the deal expected to close this quarter.

PocketGamer.biz also understands the acquirer is a private, London-based company. We have reached out to Tripledot for comment but have not had a response.

Transformative deal

We reported earlier this week that AppLovin will sell its games business for $500 million in cash and $400m in the buyer’s common equity.

The deal could see the acquirer borrow up to $250m in cash. If it’s unable to obtain the money, AppLovin will provide financing through the issuance of a promissory note.

Any deal would substantially increase the size of Tripledot’s operations. The publisher raised $116m in a series B funding round in 2022, valuing it at $1.6 billion.

The company publishes titles such as Woodoku, Solitaire and Triple Tile.

An acquisition of AppLovin’s games division would see it take on a portfolio including AppLovin’s partner studios such as Lion Studios, Machine Zone, Belka Games, Magic Tavern and PeopleFun.

AppLovin and Tripledot both made the cut in PocketGamer.biz's Top 50 Mobile Game Makers in 2024.

Meanwhile, Tripledot also ranked 11th in out Top 50 UK Game Makers 2025 list.
