Delightworks' hit RPG Fate/Grand Order helped propel Sony’s music segment's revenues to $7 billion for the past year.

According to the company’s financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2018, the figure represents a 24 per cent ($1.3 billion) year-on-year increase.

Sony Music, which takes the revenues for Fate/Grand Order, also saw operating income increase $473 million year-on-year to just over $1.1 billion.

Sony did not say much about Fate/Grand Order, except that “visual media and platform sales increased due to the continued strong performance” of the title.

According to SuperData, the game is estimated to have generated $982 million in 2017 alone.

Music to the ears

Revenue for Sony's overal business increased $8.5 billion (12 per cent) to $77 billion. while operating income rose $4 billion year-on-year to $6.6 billion.

There was no mention of Sony's mobile studio ForwardWorks in its financials. The developer launched its third game No Heroes Allowed! Dash! On iOS and Android on February 14th 2018 in Japan only and surpassed 500,000 downloads just three days after first launching.
