Honor of Kings was the top grossing mobile game worldwide in June 2017

Honor of Kings was the top grossing mobile game worldwide in June 2017

Tencent's mobile MOBA Honor of Kings topped the worldwide mobile game revenue charts in June 2017, according to SuperData Research.

The firm has released its latest monthly Worldwide Digital Games Market, which has studied the top grossing games in June 2017.

It is the first time Honor of Kings has topped SuperData's chart, though the company claims that the game's monthly growth has remained largely stagnant. It estimates that the MOBA generated $150 million in revenue during the month.

Cream of the crop

The top ten is as follows:

  1. Honor of Kings
  2. Fantasy Westward Journey
  3. Clash of Clans
  4. Dragon Chronicles
  5. Clash Royale
  6. Monster Strike
  7. Game of War: Fire Age
  8. Candy Crush Saga
  9. Mobile Strike
  10. Fate/Grand Order

Dragon Chronicles is a surprise new entry in the rankings. It appears to be an MMO developed by Chinese company TapFuns, but aside from an inactive Facebook page there is little information available on the game.

The rest of the chart is largely the same, with Niantic's Pokemon GO failing to reappear in the top ten. SuperData claims that its revenue is up much higher compared to its revenues in May, when it first dropped out of the chart.

Data from App Annie suggested that Honor of Kings was the top grossing game worldwide in May 2017 as well. SuperData's report for that month placed the game at the bottom of its top ten grossing ranks.
