South Korean games studio Netmarble is developing a new title in The Seven Deadly Sins series, expected to launch worldwide on mobile, PC and PS5.

Titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, the game received a trailer at Summer Game Fest 2025, three years on from its initial concept video. Players can also now wishlist the upcoming title on PS5 and Steam, with mobile pre-registrations expected to follow.

The open-world RPG based on the well-known anime and manga has yet to land an official release date, but its Steam page suggests a 2025 launch.

Netmarble’s 2019 release, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, has surpassed $1 billion in lifetime player spending.

Crossing the milestone

Netmarble first launched The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross in Japan and South Korea in June 2019, and the title already surpassed $150 million in mobile revenue before its global rollout nine months later, according to AppMagic estimates. $46.1m of that was generated in June 2019 alone.

After quickly declining, player spending spiked with the global expansion in March 2020 and the month remains Grand Cross’ second most lucrative to date, at $39.9m. Spending also sustained at a higher rate throughout much of the global pandemic.

To date, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross has earned $1.1bn based on Google Play and App Store earnings alone, meaning actual revenues are likely higher considering additional earnings from Steam and alternative mobile app stores.

Between Google Play and the App Store, the game hit 10 figures in April 2024 and continues to generate millions of dollars per month six years on from release.

Grand Cross has made a monthly average of $7.4m on mobile thus far in 2025.

Netmarble’s follow-up, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, has been confirmed as a standalone title rather than a sequel, suggesting the studio won’t only target Grand Cross players with this upcoming release.

Last year’s Summer Game Fest saw Supercell advertise its mobile game Squad Busters with a hard-won trailer, which Supercell head of marketing Rob Lowe said organisers were initially "reluctant" to show.
