Twin Sails Interactive has become independent following a management buyout from Asmodee Group.

The transition will not impact company structure, with Twin Sails set to retain its current leadership and team, including chief executive officer Nicolas Godement, production director Laurent Lichnewsky and marketing director Adrien Rotondo.

Last year, Embracer Group announced its intention split into three separately listed companies, which made Asmodee Group a new publicly listed company that handled tabletop publishing and distribution.

Twin Sails, which was formerly known as Asmodee Digital, was the video game arm of the tabletop publisher known for adaptations such as Gloomhaven and Terraforming Mars.

Future ambitions

“This is an exciting new chapter for Twin Sails Interactive," said Godement. “Our time within Asmodee provided us with invaluable experience, and we are grateful for the collaboration that helped shape our journey.

“Now, as an independent publisher, we move forward with confidence, ready to pursue our bold and energised vision for the future.”

The publisher shared ambitions to expand upon its indie games portfolio, focus on "distinctive and high-quality titles” and use its “triforce” team model - a producer, brand manager and game designer - to support each game.

Asmodee CEO Thomas Koegler added: “We are proud to see Twin Sails Interactive set sail towards new horizons under the leadership of its passionate management team. This transition marks an exciting new chapter, ensuring continuity while allowing both Asmodee and Twin Sails Interactive to thrive in their respective areas of expertise.

“We look forward to Twin Sails Interactive continuing to meet success and innovate, bringing fresh, engaging experiences to players worldwide – and wish them a journey filled with success, creativity, and new opportunities.”

As part of Twin Sails' growing portfolio, titles such as Boomtown: A Different Story, which was initially released on Steam, will now be coming to mobile in 2025. The studio is also seeking new projects and partnerships with open invitations for developers to pitch ideas.
