Feb 17, 2025 | milestone | My.Games Pixonic | War Robots hits $1bn |
My.Games and Pixonic's shooter War Robots has reached $1 billion in lifetime gross revenue across all platforms, PocketGamer.biz can reveal.
The milestone was achieved after the game celebrated its 10-year anniversary last year. According to data.ai, fewer than 100 mobile games have reached $1bn in revenue, setting the game among a select group of titles to reach the milestone.
Over 300 million players have installed War Robots across all platforms. It boasted an active monthly player base of up to 4.7m in 2024 and a daily user count of 690,000.
The game's primary audience is on mobile platforms, which account for 95% of total installs and 94% of revenue. Android has shown itself as the most dominant platform regarding installs, with 212m downloads compared to 70m on iOS. However, revenue distribution is nearly equal, with Android generating $455m and iOS only slightly behind at $442m.
Key markets and content strategy
War Robots has a strong global presence, with the highest revenue contributions coming from the United States, Japan, Germany, South Korea and the UK. The US generates over $380m in lifetime revenue, with Android players generating $161m and iOS players accounting for $191m.
Last year, the game also made a return to China after regaining its license. Upon the title's return, the Chinese version gained traction and, according to Appmagic, ranked among the top five vehicle shooters worldwide by revenue, while the global version of the game claimed the number one spot.
The game, developed in-house by Pixonic, attributes much of the title’s success to its stream of new content, with the studio introducing around 100 new units, including weapons, robots and pilots, as well as hosting an average of nine in-game events per year.
A decade of growth
“This milestone reflects not only the enduring appeal of War Robots but also My.Games' commitment to creating high-quality, engaging gaming experiences that resonate with a global audience," said My.Games CEO Elena Grigorian.
"Reaching $1bn in lifetime revenue is a testament to the dedication of the War Robots development team and the innovative strategies we’ve employed to stay competitive in an ever-evolving market.
“It highlights the power of combining robust live operations, consistent content updates, and a deep understanding of our players' preferences. As we celebrate this achievement, we remain focused on sustaining growth and delivering exceptional gaming experiences to our players.”
Head of Pixonic Vladimir Markin added: “We announced reaching $500m in cumulative revenue near the seventh anniversary of War Robots. It took us less than four years after that milestone to join the prestigious $1bn games club, well ahead of the game's 11th anniversary.
“I’m really proud of the War Robots team for keeping the game fresh and relevant while planning exciting updates, not just for 2025 but for years ahead. A huge thank you to our dedicated players – you inspire us to keep pushing boundaries.”
Earlier this year, My.Games entered a partnership with Aptoide to expand its reach by bringing its games to Aptoides Android store.
