At Pocket Gamer Connects Bangalore 2015, Steel Media's Chris James led a panel of European developers in a discussion of how best to target the Western and European markets.
He was joined by Martine Spaans, founder of Tamalaki; Vlad Micu, consultant and founder of VGVisionary; and Misha Lyalin, CEO of ZeptoLab.
Language barriers
Spaans made the point that "it's easier to focus on America because it's all English", though Lyalin suggested that translating into other languages and targeting specific countries is relatively cheap and an effective marketing move.
And while going for an international market may seem tempting, Micu pointed out that "there's a bonus to focusing on your own country", as developers will already understand the culture and people they're developing for.
