The Apple Watch 2 could be set to launch in the latter half of 2016.

In a research note sent to investors, and acquired by MacRumors, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the new Apple Watch will include a GPS, barometer and better battery life, among other improvements.

The same, but different

Despite the improvements, Kuo predicts that the new watch will use the same screen size and thickness and will generally take the same form as its predecessor.

The original Apple Watch is also expected to receive an upgrade with the same processor updates as the Apple Watch 2, but without the GPS and barometer.

The release could well coincide with the launch of watchOS 3, which brings Games Center to the hardware along with SpriteKit support and other improvements.
