South Korea’s DoubleU Games splashes $825 million on social casino dev Double Down

South Korean publisher DoubleU Games has agreed a deal to acquire social casino developer Double Down Interactive from International Game Technology for $825 million.

The deal will also see DoubleU offer IGT’s library of casino games on its own platforms, with ongoing royalties going to IGT.

The sale is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017.

Big money, big profits

The acquisition sees DoubleU getting its hands on DoubleDown Casino & Slots, one of the most lucrative casino games on mobile.

In the US App Store, the title regularly features in the top 20 and 30 top grossing charts.

The deal represents a significant profit for London-based IGT, which acquired Double Down Interactive for $500 million back in 2012.
