Brawl Stars teams up with WWE star John Cena to kick off its SpongeBob SquarePants collaboration

- The new event will run from September 5th to October 2nd
- Brawl Stars has had a mighty comeback in 2024 after the game saw declines over 2022 and 2023
Supercell’s Brawl Stars is involved in a new crossover collaboration in partnership with Paramount Consumer Products and Experiences which will see the popular cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants join the game in an event running from September 5th to October 2nd.
The SpongeBob takeover will see popular characters from the cartoon, such as SpongeBob, Mr Krabs, and Squidward, make a brawl-star appearance and shake up game modes, power-ups, and offers.
The collaboration comes about as the massively popular cartoon celebrates its 25th anniversary, but it doesn’t just end at Brawl Stars and SpongeBob. The launch trailer features WWE star and actor John Cena, who sets the crossover into motion.
Under the sea
“As a long time fan of Supercell games and having watched SpongeBob for years, there was definitely a nostalgic component that drew me to the partnership. SponeBob inside Brawl Stars is absolutely wild and I’m all for it - it’s the epic entertainment tag team fans have been waiting for!” said Cena.
Supercell are, of course, no stranger to big-name collaborations and celebrity marketing. Squad Busters got a star-studded trailer just before it launched, and Man City and Norway striker Erling Haaland joined Clash of Clans back in April.

Now, it's Brawl Stars' turn with this latest collaboration, and it comes at a great time for the game. In 2022, the title began to decline, which continued through 2023, but a mighty comeback was in store, as the game generated more revenue in the first four months of 2024 than it did in the entire of 2023.
“Bringing SpongeBob into the world of Brawl Stars has been on our radar for a while," said Brawl Stars general manager Frank Keienburg.
"The worlds of Bikini Bottom and Starr Park complement each other well, and considering our community’s love for SpongeBob memes, we were confident our players would like to see a collab happen!
"It’s been super fun to see our team bring this to life and be part of this special 25th anniversary for the SpongeBob franchise.”
