Saudi-based studio Classy Games has raised 1.1 million riyals ($300,000) to continue its growth in the Middle East and support the development of its upcoming title SillySuspects.

The company told PocketGamer.biz that it will use the funds to scale development, expand its team, and double down on its community-building efforts.

Founded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of connecting players via playful moments, Classy Games has roots in both Northern Ireland and the UAE.

Low-barrier, playful approach

The company's debut title, Orbital, saw an organic reach of 200,000 unique players, accumulating over 180,000 hours of gameplay.

“We're all about creating games which offer a low barrier to entry, adopt a playful aesthetic and utilise shorter gameplay sessions," said Classy Games founder and CEO Jamie McClenaghan.

“By ensuring all of our games have high replay value, a UGC centric design and seasonal events, we create light-hearted, whimsical and playful games for busy gamers with busy lives.

“We are incredibly thankful for all of the support we have received over the years, and we will continue to return that support."

The investment is part of Exel by Merak's recent allocation of $300,000 each in 17 game startups as part of its gaming accelerator.
