Marvel Contest of Champions debuts on PC after amassing $2bn on mobile

Kabam's Marvel Contest of Champions has launched on PC for the first time since its mobile debut in 2014.
After amassing over $2 billion in revenue on mobile, according to AppMagic estimates, Kabam has offered five tiers of rewards to players who pre-registered, including an exclusive profile picture, title, and in-game resources.
The game's PC debut includes cross-play with the mobile version and comes with improved graphics at 60fps, as well as a PC-optimised UI with new stories and characters.
Battling champions
Marvel Contest of Champions initially launched with 26 characters, but has expanded its roster to over 300 in a decade, with recent additions like Spider-Woman and Lumatrix.
Kabam monetises the title through early release bundles for new characters, available first to paying players but later accessible for free via Crystals. Despite the gacha system, there's no guarantee of obtaining new heroes.
This approach has sustained the game's earnings for over a decade, generating $128.6 million in 2024 and peaking at $264.5m in 2018.
