Minecraft’s daily mobile revenue hits three-year high at $969,000 after A Minecraft Movie’s release

- Daily mobile spending in Minecraft increased by 32% on the day A Minecraft Movie released
Minecraft’s daily mobile revenue has surged to a three-year high, generating $969,000 in gross player spending on April 12th, 2025.
According to AppMagic data, this month's revenue surge has led to Minecraft’s mobile version’s best-performing day since December 25th, 2021.
On the rise
Minecraft’s mobile version has also started 2025 with its most lucrative three months since the beginning of 2022. The title generated $42.3m between January and March 2025, up 19% quarter-over-quarter and 34% year-over-year.
January 2025 was also the mobile version’s most lucrative month in three years, having earned $15.1m at the beginning of this year. This was $1m more than 2024’s best month, July, but fell short of January 2022’s $19.4m.
April 2025 is currently on track to outperform January 2025’s player spending, already at $9.9m less than halfway through the month.

Crafting a captive audience
The rise coincides with A Minecraft Movie’s release in cinemas on April 4th. That same day, daily mobile spending in Minecraft increased by 32%.
An instant hit, the film generated $301 million in its first two days, already earning double its reported production budget. GameSpot noted that since then, the film is now over halfway to $1 billion worldwide and is second only to The Super Mario Bros. Movie in video game movie earnings.
Starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa and others, A Minecraft Movie has continued a trend of famous faces crossing over into game franchises - whether in films or adverts.
In addition to a likely surge from the film, the game itself introduced its Version 1.21.70 update, Spring to Life, on March 25th. The update has made changes to Minecraft’s trading system and introduced wildflowers, bushes, leaf litter, a pause screen and more, though this didn’t trigger any surge in mobile revenue.
