Candy Crush Saga users have played more than one trillion games in last four years

King's mega-hit Candy Crush Saga has reached a milestone of one trillion of games played since its release on Facebook in April 2012.

This equates to every single person in the world playing the game 140 times.

According to an infographic posted by VentureBeat, an average of 18 billion games are played every month and that the game has been played on all seven continents around the world.

It also states that Sunday is the most popular day for people to play the game and that over 307 trillion candies have been swiped since launch.

In terms of distance swiped, King estimates that the daily distance is around 116,200 kilometres, with a yearly approximate of 41,197,500 kilometres.

Celebrating in style

To celebrate, King has updated Candy Crush Saga with its 2000th level, which is available to anyone who has reached level 10 for the next seven days.

"Candy Crush Saga continues to be one of the most played games around the world and has enjoyed continued success in the download charts since launch," said Sebastian Knutsson, CCO at King.

"Over the years our team has worked hard to evolve and innovate within the game so that our players always have new and fun challenges to enjoy."

King was acquired by Activision-Blizzard in February 2016 and has so far brought in $454 million and 409 million MAUs for its parent company.
