Supercell partners with Facebook on Clash of Clans AR experience to celebrate the games' five-year anniversary

Facebook and Supercell have partnered to continue celebrating Clash of Clans' five-year anniversary with an AR experience starring the game's Builder.

Using the AR Studio of Facebook's Camera Effects tool, players can interact with the Builder's face by performing actions to the camera. They can also flip the camera and place the Builder in the real-world on their screen.

The partnership is part of a continued anniversary celebration event, which has seen the Builder "leave" Clash of Clans in search of a new job. The video announcing his departure has seen over 53 million views on YouTube.

A vibrant community

"In as little as five years, Supercell has built one of the most vibrant game communities in the world through Clash of Clans," said Leo Olebe, director of global games partnerships at Facebook.

"Using the AR Studio tool on Facebook's Camera Effects Platform, Supercell is giving Clash fans a chance to celebrate and become a character most deserving of some love. We're proud to team up with Supercell, and we're happy to finally give the Builder a chance to work on some new, hopefully more rewarding projects."

Clash of Clans' five-year anniversary celebrations began earlier in August 2017 with a video montage of destruction in the game. We also spoke with Senior Server Engineer Jonas Collaros about how the game has evolved over the last five years.
