Tencent’s Arena of Valor breaks $3 million in revenue in the US

Tencent’s mobile MOBA Arena of Valor has surpassed the $3 million mark in revenues in the US.

Mobile intelligence firm Sensor Tower reports that the title took roughly seven months to hit the milestone, having launched in December of last year.

The iOS App Store has proven most kind to Tencent’s MOBA and provided 62 per cent of revenues. The game currently finds itself in the 405th spot on the iOS revenues chart.

Arena of Valor has been downloaded over one million times in the US and is presently ranked at 679th on the iOS download charts.

The download figure in particular is a surprise given its runaway success in China and that it has the backing of one of the most powerful publishers in the business.

I’m Batman

Tencent has been supplementing Arena of Valor’s US release with various character releases popular to the region.

The most recent was DC Comics’ iconic vigilante Batman, who joined other DC favourites such as Wonder Woman, The Flash, The Joker and Superman in Arena of Valors roaster.

Known as Honor of Kings in the East, the title is seen as a national sensation in China. Worldwide revenues hit an estimated $1.9 billion in 2017, according to Superdata, with much of that coming from China.

Its success in the country far eclipses the impact the title has made in the West to date.
