Roblox picks up $150 million investment to fuel global expansion

The developer behind UGC-based kids game Roblox has received $150 million in a Series F funding round to fuel its international expansion.

The title is one of the most popular games in the world right now and was recently ranked sixth in our Top 50 Developer list for 2018.

Roblox has more than 70 million monthly active users and its community of developers are set to earn more than $70 million by the end of the year.

The company aims to use the money to bring in new staff and increase support for more languages and currencies.

The investment is the company’s largest to date and follows on from the $92m financing round it raised back in March 2017.

The latest round was led by Greylock Partners and Tiger Global Management, and also included investment from Altos Ventures, Index Ventures, and Meritech Capital Partners.

“Roblox’s mission is to power the imagination of people around the world,” said Roblox CEO David Baszucki.

“This funding will allow us to scale the company as we serve all the creative individuals across the globe who come to our platform.”
