App Store users spent over $1.5 billion on games and apps between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

On January 1st alone customers splashed out $322 million, a record for money spent in a single day.

Gaming and self-care were cited as the most popular categories for downloads and subscriptions during the period.

The most popular titles were said to include Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, Brawl Stars, Asphalt 9 and Monster Strike.

Services boon

App Store revenue has helped push Apple’s over services revenue to an all-time record during the holiday quarter.

It comes amidst a sales warning from Apple over hardware sales, revising its financial guidance to investors for the first time in 15 years.

As well as App Store sales, its services arm also includes Apple Music, Cloud Services, Apply Pay and Search Ads.
