Nintendo taps up Cygames for new RPG game Dragalia Lost

Nintendo has partnered Japanese games developer Cygames to develop its new mobile game, Dragalia Lost.

The RPG title looks set to takes cues from Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition with a 3D, chibi-style design and will launch in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in the summer, with a European and US launch to follow.

The new partnership was announced during Nintendo’s financial presentation for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2018 and will see the games giant take a 5 per cent stake in subsidiary Cygames for an undisclosed sum.



Cygames’ parent company CyberAgent’s shares jumped 16 percent in early trade following the announcement, which is the most the company has seen since November 2013.

Nintendo has enjoyed a productive year in regards to its mobile games, making $359.5 million in combined sales.

According to its latest financial report the figure represented a 62 per cent year-on-year increase.
