Overseas revenue for Chinese developers rises by 11% to $9.5bn in H1 2025

China’s games market revenue rose by 14% year-over-year to a record ¥168 billion ($23.4bn) in H1 2025, according to a new report.
As reported by China Daily, the new Game Publishing Committee and Expert Committee on Game Industry Research said Chinese developers also saw overall overseas revenue grow by 11% to $9.5 billion during the first half of the year.
The US took up the biggest share at close to 32%. Simulation games were said to be the largest drivers of revenue at 43.3%.
China mobile game revenue, meanwhile, increased by 16.5% to ¥125.3bn ($17.4bn). The MOBA genre, which includes titles like Tencent’s Honor of Kings and Riot Games’ League of Legends: Wild Rift, accounted for 20.4% of sales.

Revenue from WeChat mini-games was reported to have surged by 40.2% to ¥23.3bn ($3.2bn).
Overall, the number of Chinese gamers increased by 0.72% to 679 million. For context, the country is said to be home to more than 1.4 billion people.
