AI-powered games platform PhilosopherKing has raised $3 million in seed funding to expand its team, bolster its AI tech and create interactive, non-linear stories in games and other industries.

The round was led by 468 Capital and 212.

PhilosopherKing's AI system will aim to empower players to make "natural choices"  within games, such as deciding alliances or engaging in dialogue, resulting in AI-generated responses, unique missions and adaptive changes to the in-game world.

The company plans to expand to other sectors and scenarios that could benefit from interactive storytelling, like media, recruitment, education and training.

Getting interactive

PhilosopherKing was co-founded by CEO Sadok Kohen, CFO Alp Guler and CXO Onur Bayrak, bringing decades of combined experience in tech, games and AI. Kohen previously built and exited the social betting platform BetBull.

During its time in stealth mode, PhilosopherKing has established a team across Europe and the US, in London, Istanbul and Las Vegas.

"Our goal is to break free from the limitations of traditional storytelling in gaming," said Kohen.

"With AI, we can now create living, evolving stories where players aren’t just choosing between pre-set options but genuinely shaping their own unique stories. This is the next frontier of gaming - and will usher in a new era for players."

468 Capital general partner Alexander Kudlich commented: "AI-driven storytelling is one of the most exciting frontiers in gaming, and PhilosopherKing is leading the charge. Its technology unlocks an entirely new level of player agency and immersion."

212 general partner Ali Karabey added: "The opportunity for PhilosopherKing’s intuitive products is huge - not only in video games but also in education, recruitment and training, where interactive storytelling can transform user engagement.

"We are delighted to back a team with great ideas and proven experience, poised to redefine how stories are told and experienced in digital worlds."
