Downloads and revenue for Ubisoft's soft-launched Rainbow Six Mobile surged in January and February after it entered phase two of its new roadmap to a global release.

According to AppMagic estimates, player spending on the App Store and Google Play rose by 1,404% month-on-month in January to $53,400.

The sudden rise in revenue followed the version 1.3.2 update on January 14th, which introduced the new winter map Summit, limited-time seasonal content, new cosmetics in the store and more. New ranked challenges were also introduced, with more expected to be added every two weeks.

January also saw beta testing enter phase two of Ubisoft's roadmap to a potential global launch, the "engagement test". Ubisoft's Montreal development team has promised greater focus on gameplay enjoyability and engagement, following a previously lacklustre soft launch.

Furthermore, January 2025 saw Rainbow Six Mobile expand accessibility to France, now already the game's most lucrative country. Players in France have spent $80,600 in-game in less than a month, compared to Canada's $54,400 since August 2023.

Across its limited number of available regions, Rainbow Six Mobile has made $183,300 to date.

It should be noted that the rise in revenue has coincided with an increase in downloads as Ubisoft brings more players in to testing. The official Rainbow Six Mobile Twitter account (now known as X) acknowledged the importance of having "a large pool of players" in phase two.

A new summit

After struggling in soft launch, Ubisoft put Rainbow Six Mobile's rollout on pause last April as it looked to address "areas for improvement" for the game.

It returned from a seven-month hiatus last November with a three-phase roadmap to full release. Phase one's focus on data collection and technical testing didn’t spark any significant revenue spike.

Despite a rise in January during phase two, daily player spending has been declining again in February, though earnings are still well above anything achieved in 2023 or 2024. The fall in spending has coincided with fewer new downloads.

"Once the engagement test is successful, we will begin the final phase, transitioning to global launch," the Rainbow Six Mobile team said in a statement.
