Roblox has introduced three new parental control features aimed at improving child safety on the platform.

Among them, new controls have been added that enable parents to block specific people in their child’s Roblox friends list. This builds upon Roblox’s previous child safety update which introduced a means for parents to view a child’s friends list.

Other new additions now allow parents to view which 20 experiences their children mostly played over the past week and limit their access to specific experiences - providing more control than the broader "content maturity level" check.

Content control

Roblox has stated that parents can now block anyone in their child’s friends list and that children cannot re-add blocked individuals without parental consent, provided the child is under 13 years old. They can, however, send a request to parents to unblock someone.

At the same time, parents can now find a Blocked Experiences section within their parental controls, which displays a list of blocked titles. This is visible to both parents and children, and similar to blocked friends, a child under 13 can still request access to a specific experience. A parent can then choose to allow access or not.

"Our revamped Safety Center and these new parental controls are just part of our work to offer our users the best, most age-appropriate tools to confidently navigate online safety on Roblox and beyond," Roblox stated.

"We regularly update our tools, policies and systems to help keep children safe on Roblox whether or not parents choose to use our parental controls, because it is the right thing for children, their parents, our investors and our company.

"Roblox is dedicated to providing people with the tools and education to navigate the online world with confidence and create positive experiences."

In late 2024, Roblox cracked down on unrated game experiences by stopping under-13s from being able to search, find or play them.
