Mobile market intelligence firm Sensor Tower has acquired live ops data platform Playliner for an undisclosed fee.
Based in Finland, Playliner tracks and analyses live ops in mobile games, offering insights into in-game events, monetisation and player engagement. Existing clients are said to include AppLovin, Playtika and Playrix.
Sensor Tower said it aims to expand the newly acquired company’s services to all apps, with opportunities in categories such as entertainment and e-commerce.
Fresh insights
"Playliner brings a powerful new layer of insight to Sensor Tower's mobile gaming suite," said Sensor Tower CEO Oliver Yeh.
"By integrating Playliner's live ops data, we're strengthening our position as the definitive platform for gaming intelligence, covering everything from pre-launch market sizing to post-launch engagement and monetisation.
“Further, as more non-gaming apps apply live ops to drive engagement and monetisation, we see the potential to provide these metrics to a broader universe of apps."
Playliner CEO and founder Kirill Razumovskiy added: "We're thrilled to join Sensor Tower and bring live ops insights into the industry's leading platform for gaming intelligence.
"Together, we can unlock unique insights into what makes mobile games succeed—and help our customers act on them."
The news comes a few months after Sensor Tower acquired Video Game Insights as it expanded into providing insights for PC and console.
Last year it purchased long-time rival data.ai, merging the two largest mobile market intelligence companies.
