Shenzhen has launched a plan to drive high-quality growth in services and digital trade, aiming to enhance China’s games industry and digital cultural exports.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, Shenzhen's 39-point plan aims to boost domestic consumption and support exporters as it navigates the challenges posed by the US-China trade war.

Guided by President Xi Jinping’s directives and national policies, the city will promote service trade across all sectors, enhance its quality, and drive innovation in digital trade to support its development goals.

The city's main goal is to raise digitally deliverable service trade to over 50% of its total service trade by 2030 and to over 55% by 2035.

The strategy focuses on industrial support, IP development, infrastructure, and building international platforms to boost global competitiveness whilst leveraging strengths in AI terminals, smart home systems and outdoor equipment.

Big plans

Shenzhen will help local game companies set up overseas R&D centers and publishing channels to boost competitiveness by improving localisation, compliance, and user experience.

Moreover, it will also host international esports events, create cultural zones, promote Chinese goods, and use visa-free policies to boost tourism.

There are also plans to deploy 1,800 AI translation devices to aid visitors, support exporters through trade shows and procurement orders and provide funding for firms to join overseas exhibitions alongside matchmaking events to help businesses access new markets.
