The Dubai GameExpo Summit 2025 powered by Pocket Gamer Connects has begun, kicking off two days of insightful talks and networking opportunities.

One of the speakers is Starvania Studio CEO and co-founder Meaad Aflah, who will be speaking on the panel "The Next Generation - Nurturing The Future Of MENA Game Developers."

Then on May 8th, the studio will launch Bahamut and the Waqwaq Tree, a project dear to the team, coinciding with the PocketGamer MENA Awards ceremony.

Bahamut and the Waqwaq Tree is inspired by Arabian mythologies from the One Thousand and One Nights book and is set to launch  on PC, Nintendo Switch, and consoles.

The game is being developed by a remote, multi-national team of 12, primarily based in Saudi Arabia, with members from France, Germany, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, and the UK.

MENA Games Awards

Last year, Starvania Studios won ‘Best Games Startup' ahead of runners-up Nomadroid and Yalla Game.

Furthermore, we recently announced the MENA Games Industry Awards 2025 finalists, showcasing talent from the region's games sector.

The shortlist spans 13 categories and highlights games, developers, publishers, and more. Winners will be revealed on May 8th during the Dubai GameExpo Summit 2025, with exclusive access for summit attendees.
