The owner of a small computer company in New York is attempting to sue singer Taylor Swift over the title of her mobile game The Swift Life.

The app was developed by Glu Mobile and acts as a social platform to keep up with Taylor Swift updates and communicate with other fans.

Swift action

As reported by TMZ, Patrick Benot, the owner of a computer consulting company called SwiftLife, has filed for a lawsuit against Swift over trademark infringement.

Benot claims he trademarked his company SwiftLife in 2008, and that Swift nor her team have contacted him over using the title before or since launching the title at the end of last year.

He says there is no excuse however, as Swift’s team has itself trademarked 64 items in her name, which Benot states means they are well-versed in trademark law.

Benot alleges the singer’s app caused traffic to his firm to “decreased rapidly” and has also resulted in numerous emails from confused fans.

According to Cinemablend, he is seeking “unspecified damages”.
