Tinder-esque indie strategy game Reigns swipes 600,000 downloads

Indie developer Nerial's bizarre kingdom simulator Reignshas achieved 600,000 sales in just over a month since it launched on 11 August 2016.

At a premium price of $2.99, that means the game will have generated revenue in the region of $1.8 million to date.

According to a tweet from the official Reigns Twitter account, mobile made up a "majority" of all sales across Android, iOS and Steam.

King of the world

Published by Devolver Digital, Reigns has been in the top ten of the US App Store download charts, so it's little surprise that so many of the sales were on mobile.

The game is an odd mix of strategy game and dating app Tinder, in which players swipe left and right to make decisions about their kingdom.

It's an impressive achievement that helps to prove that premium apps, including those made by indies, can do well on the app stores – a topic discussed by some of our own Indie Mavens previously.
