- The game has seen dramatic peaks in revenue with each major new gacha banner
Kuro Games’ action RPG Wuthering Waves has surpassed $100 million in mobile gross revenue ($70m net) across Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store, according to AppMagic estimates.
This major milestone has been achieved in under two months since the game’s official launch on May 22nd, 2024, with a fairly even revenue split across its biggest regions.
So far, Wuthering Waves has found the most financial success in Japan, accounting for 23% of its mobile earnings. In close second, players in China have contributed 22% of its mobile revenue, and South Korean players 17%. The US market has contributed 17% too.
Starting strong
Kuro Games’ new monster-collecting IP got off to a strong start this May as the second most-downloaded game of the month in the US and Japan, outmatched only by Supercell’s Squad Busters.
AppMagic data suggests that 7.4 million Wuthering Waves mobile downloads occurred between May 22nd and May 31st, comprising the bulk of its estimated 11.5 million downloads on Apple’s App Store and the Play Store to date. Among them, 23% have come from players in China, 14% from the US, and 7% from Japan.
On the revenue side, Wuthering Waves was June’s third-biggest gacha title - only behind giants of the genre Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
According to AppMagic, Wuthering Waves generated $59.9 million in June alone, with the effectiveness of its new gacha banners apparent on a daily revenue level; a sudden surge on June 6th saw the game earn $5.5 million on mobile - currently the game’s most lucrative day on the platform - coinciding with a new gacha banner featuring Yinlin.
The next spike occurred on June 28th, coinciding with the Version 1.1 update and another new gacha banner featuring Jinhsi. That day, revenue reached $4.4 million, more than triple the $1.2 generated one day prior.

Revenue has declined again since, but another new banner is expected to follow the end of Jinhsi’s on July 22nd.
