Google Play and App Store rankings in the US, Great Britain and Ireland, and China for the week of October 1st to 7th

Weekly global mobile game charts: South Korea's Line Puzzle tops downloads as Clash Royale makes a comeback

To give our readers better insight into the global mobile games industry we’ve teamed up with market data firm Sensor Tower to bring you brand new, exclusive weekly charts from key countries.

These rank games by free downloads, paid downloads and the top grossers across the App Store and Google Play. Each week we’ll be covering the US, Great Britain and Ireland, and China (iOS only) markets.

This week's charts cover the period from October 1st to 7th.

US charts

Supercell's Clash Royale is making a bit of a comeback this week, heading into ninth on the App Store and eighth on the Google Play top grossing charts. That means the famous Finnish developer has two titles in the top 10 of both marketplaces, alongside the ever-reliable Clash of Clans.

Topping both stores' free download rankings meanwhile was Lion Studios once again with global hit Happy Glass.

Great Britain and Ireland charts

Fittingly for our South Korea Special week, Korean developer BitMango has topped the US App Store download rankings with Line Puzzle, usurping last week's top dog Snake VS. Colors. The latter has fallen out of the top 10 completely.

Much like in the US, Clash Royale made the App Store top 10 grossers, but was missing from Google Play.

Candy Crush Saga meanwhile took back top spot on the App Store and cemented its leadership position on Google Play.

China charts

There was very little change in the Chinese App Store week-on-week. PUBG Battlegrounds moved to top spot on the free download rankings ahead of Happy Glass. Last week's leader, NetEase's God Night, slipped to fifth.

Tencent's other PUBG game, Army Attack, re-entered the top charts in ninth. A shame for Tencent then that it has still been unable to monetise either of these games.

Over in the top grossing rankings, Tencent claimed half of the top 10 games, with NetEase picking up two for stalwart Fantasy Westward Journey and recent release God Night.

Join Steel Media and Jagex Partners to explore the Korean market first hand at G-STAR, the biggest games conference in the region. We're running the finale of the Big Indie Awards, two Big Indie Pitches and a PG Party in association with Persona.ly, Jagex and G-Star, whilst Jagex is launching its Jagex Partner program, looking to connect with developers and publishers in the 'living games' space.
