Finnish game development studio Future Run has completed a second round of investment led by Supercell.

While the funding round has no disclosed amount, this is the second time the Finnish developer has had backing from giant Supercell since it was founded last year with a mission to “redefine competitive gaming.”

The studio's core team consists of industry veterans focused on real-time competitive games. The studios first title, Riot Ball, is an upcoming multiplayer team sports game.

Big backing

The latest funding will see Future Run grow its team and accelerate the development of Riot Ball.

Over the past year, Future Run has been focusing its efforts on developing the core gameplay experience, hoping to deliver response mechanics, fast-paced gameplay, and social team management features.

“This new round of funding allows us to scale our team where needed while keeping our development process lean and agile. We're incredibly grateful for the support from Supercell and look forward to continuing to work with their amazing investment team.” Said Future Run’s CEO, Riku Rakkola.

Supercell's investments lead, Jaakko Harlas, added: “The creativity and fast velocity of progression demonstrated by the Future Run team have been Impressive. We are excited to continue this collaboration and see where their innovative ideas take us.”

Riot Ball is being developed across multiple platforms, including mobile and PC devices, with a focus on streamlining the cross-platform experience.
